This Privacy Policy explains how data is processed in connection with the Hausleitner Apps website and the app Choose Leaf.
1. Controller
The controller within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:
Tobias Hausleitner
Gustav-Otto-Bogen 17
80997 Munich
Germany
info@hausleitnerapps.de
hausleitnerapps.de
2. Scope of this Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to:
- the website on which this Privacy Policy is published, and
- the mobile app Choose Leaf, which is made available through the Apple App Store.
3. Principle: Local app data and anonymized usage analytics
The main functions of Choose Leaf operate locally on your device. Data that you enter or generate within the app, including your meal entries, progress data, goals, statistics, settings, and garden data, is generally stored locally on your device.
Choose Leaf does not use user accounts, registration or login, advertising networks, cloud synchronization, or tracking across other companies’ apps or websites.
However, Choose Leaf uses the analytics service TelemetryDeck to perform anonymized statistical analysis of app usage. Certain technical information and usage signals are therefore transmitted to TelemetryDeck. Based on the configuration implemented by Hausleitner Apps, these signals do not contain directly personally identifiable information or other information that would enable Hausleitner Apps to identify a particular user.
Hausleitner Apps cannot view, retrieve, or analyze the content stored locally within the app. Through TelemetryDeck, Hausleitner Apps receives only anonymized usage statistics and signals.
4. Data processing when using the Choose Leaf app
4.1 Locally stored app data
Data that you enter directly into Choose Leaf or that is generated through your use of the app is generally stored exclusively on your device.
This may include, in particular:
- the name you provide within the app,
- meal entries and dietary information,
- history and progress data,
- streaks, goals, and statistics,
- information about your motivations and starting point,
- garden, plant, and reward data,
- app settings and preferences.
This locally stored data is not transmitted to Hausleitner Apps or TelemetryDeck, except for the anonymized usage signals expressly described in Section 4.2.
You can remove local app data by using the relevant app or device functions or by deleting the app. Because Hausleitner Apps has no access to this data, Hausleitner Apps cannot read, export, correct, or delete it for you.
4.2 Use of TelemetryDeck to analyze app usage
Choose Leaf uses the privacy-friendly analytics service TelemetryDeck for statistical analysis of app usage.
The provider is:
TelemetryDeck GmbH
Von-der-Tann-Str. 54
86159 Augsburg
Germany
The analytics are used, in particular, to:
- understand the number of active users and app launches,
- understand which features are used,
- identify technical problems and unusual app flows,
- improve the app’s usability and stability,
- evaluate the effectiveness of features and user interfaces,
- statistically evaluate purchase flows and the use of paid features, and
- plan future improvements to the app.
What data is transmitted?
Depending on the signal that is triggered, the following information may be transmitted:
- an anonymized identifier for each app installation that cannot be traced back to a natural person,
- actions and events defined by Hausleitner Apps, such as an app launch, opening or using a feature, a logging action, or a step within a particular app flow,
- a timestamp rounded to the nearest hour,
- technical device and app metadata, such as the operating system version, app version, build number, device type, and whether the app was installed through the App Store or TestFlight,
- additional non-personal metadata attached to a signal, such as the feature used, a selection category, a status value, a source within the app, or an aggregated numerical value,
- purchase-related signals, such as opening a purchase offer, the type or category of a product, the success, cancellation, or failure of a purchase flow and, where included in the relevant signal, the purchase type, price, currency, or App Store storefront country.
The transmitted signals may enable Hausleitner Apps to statistically recognize recurring use of the same anonymized app installation. However, they do not enable Hausleitner Apps to determine the identity of the person concerned or connect the identifier with the name entered within Choose Leaf or with other locally stored app data.
What data is not transmitted or stored?
In particular, the following information is not transmitted or stored through TelemetryDeck:
- the name entered within Choose Leaf,
- an email address or other contact information,
- an Apple ID or other Apple Account information,
- payment card, bank account, or other payment information,
- the content of personal communications,
- advertising identifiers,
- precise location information,
- IP addresses in TelemetryDeck databases or server log files,
- cookies or comparable web-based tracking technologies,
- persistent identifiers that can be traced back to a particular natural person.
Hausleitner Apps is responsible for ensuring that only non-personal information is included in the TelemetryDeck signals it defines.
Anonymization
According to TelemetryDeck, an installation or device identifier is salted and hashed on the user’s device. After it reaches TelemetryDeck, it is hashed again using an additional salt known only to TelemetryDeck. This is intended to ensure that neither TelemetryDeck nor Hausleitner Apps can reconstruct the original identifier.
TelemetryDeck states that the analytics data it processes is fully anonymized and does not enable TelemetryDeck to identify a natural person.
Legal basis and legitimate interests
To the extent that the transmitted information does not constitute personal data due to its anonymization, the GDPR generally does not apply to that information.
If an individual processing activity were nevertheless considered to involve personal data, the processing would be based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Hausleitner Apps’s legitimate interests are the statistical evaluation of app usage and the maintenance, troubleshooting, security, commercial development, and improvement of Choose Leaf.
The data is not used for advertising purposes, is not provided to data brokers, and is not combined with data from apps or websites operated by other providers.
No tracking within the meaning of Apple App Tracking Transparency
Information collected through TelemetryDeck is not used to track users across apps or websites operated by other companies. It is not linked with third-party data for personalized advertising or advertising measurement.
Therefore, no tracking within the meaning of Apple App Tracking Transparency takes place.

5. Apple App Store, Apple services, and App Store Connect
The download, installation, update, and, where applicable, purchase of the app take place through Apple services.
In this context, Apple may process personal data under its own responsibility, such as information relating to your Apple ID, your device, your download, purchases, payments, diagnostics, crashes, or use of Apple services.
Apple is generally responsible for these processing activities. Further information can be found in Apple’s Privacy Policy:
https:/
Apple may provide developers with certain aggregated or not readily personally identifiable information through App Store Connect, for example information relating to downloads, sales, subscriptions, crashes, or app usage.
App usage metrics in App Store Connect may depend on the settings through which users have agreed to share diagnostics and usage information with Apple or app developers.
To the extent that Hausleitner Apps receives such information from Apple, it is used solely for technical troubleshooting, security, improving the app, evaluating app performance, and analyzing the commercial performance of the app.
Hausleitner Apps does not use this information to identify individual users and does not combine it with personal data or locally stored Choose Leaf data.
The legal basis, to the extent that personal data is involved, is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interest lies in providing, maintaining, troubleshooting, securing, and improving the app.
6. App Privacy information in the Apple App Store
Because Choose Leaf transmits anonymized usage and analytics data from the device through TelemetryDeck, the app can no longer be classified as “Data Not Collected” in the Apple App Store.
Depending on the TelemetryDeck configuration currently in use, the following categories may need to be disclosed under Apple’s data categories:
- identifiers, in particular a Device ID,
- usage data, in particular Product Interaction,
- Purchase History, where purchase-related signals are transmitted.
This data is used solely for analytics. Under the current configuration, it is not linked to the user’s identity and is not used for tracking.
Apple’s definitions and disclosure requirements for App Privacy information are separate from the legal classification of data under the GDPR. A data type may therefore need to be disclosed to Apple as “collected” even though the information stored by TelemetryDeck is, according to TelemetryDeck, anonymized and cannot be traced back to a person.
The information provided in App Store Connect will be updated if the app’s functionality, the signals used, the TelemetryDeck configuration, or Apple’s requirements change.
7. Data processing when visiting the website
When this website is accessed, certain data is processed for technical reasons so that the website can be displayed and to ensure its security and stability.
In particular, the following data may be processed:
- IP address,
- date and time of access,
- requested page or file,
- amount of data transferred,
- referrer URL, if transmitted,
- browser used,
- operating system used,
- device information,
- HTTP status code.
This data is processed in server log files. The processing is carried out for the technical provision of the website, ensuring system security, error analysis, and preventing misuse.
The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interest lies in the secure, stable, and functional provision of the website.
Server log files are stored only for as long as necessary for the purposes stated above. As a rule, the retention period is up to 30 days.
Longer storage takes place only where this is necessary to investigate security incidents, defend against attacks, or assert or defend legal claims.
The website is hosted or provided through services offered by Cloudflare.
The provider is:
Cloudflare, Inc.
101 Townsend Street
San Francisco, CA 94107
USA
In this context, Cloudflare processes, in particular, technical access data required for the secure and stable provision of the website.
Further information about Cloudflare’s data processing practices is available at:
https:/
8. Cookies, tracking, and analytics on the website
Hausleitner Apps does not use cookies on this website for analytics, marketing, or tracking purposes.
No web analytics services such as Google Analytics, Matomo, or similar services are used. No advertising or tracking pixels are used.
No social media plugins are integrated that automatically transmit personal data to social networks when the website loads.
The use of TelemetryDeck described in Section 4 applies exclusively to the Choose Leaf app and not to this website.
If cookies, analytics tools, external media, or similar technologies are used on the website in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly. Where required, consent will be obtained in advance.
9. Contact by email
If you contact Hausleitner Apps by email, the data you provide will be processed.
This may include, in particular:
- your email address,
- your name, if provided,
- the content of your message,
- the time of contact,
- technical metadata of the email.
The processing is carried out to handle your inquiry and communicate with you.
The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interest lies in responding to inquiries and communicating with users.
If your inquiry relates to entering into or performing a contract, Article 6(1)(b) GDPR is an additional legal basis.
Email inquiries are deleted once they are no longer required for processing, unless statutory retention obligations apply or longer storage is necessary to assert, exercise, or defend legal claims.
10. Recipients of data
Personal data is not sold, rented, or passed on to third parties for advertising purposes.
However, personal data may be disclosed where this is necessary for providing the website, email communication, service security, or compliance with legal obligations.
Possible recipients include, in particular:
- hosting and infrastructure providers,
- email service providers,
- IT service providers,
- Apple in connection with the Apple App Store and related Apple services,
- authorities or courts, where there is a legal obligation.
Signals are also transmitted to TelemetryDeck GmbH for the anonymized analysis of app usage. TelemetryDeck states that it does not process personal data within the meaning of Article 4(1) GDPR as part of its analytics service and that it therefore acts neither as a processor nor as a joint controller in this context.
Where other service providers process personal data on behalf of Hausleitner Apps, this is done on the basis of a data processing agreement pursuant to Article 28 GDPR, where required.
11. Transfers to third countries
Personal data is transferred to countries outside the European Union or European Economic Area only where this is necessary for the use of service providers and the applicable legal requirements are met.
Where personal data is transferred to third countries, this is done, in particular, on the basis of an adequacy decision by the European Commission or appropriate safeguards within the meaning of Articles 44 et seq. GDPR, such as standard contractual clauses.
When using Apple services, processing by Apple or Apple-affiliated companies outside the European Union or European Economic Area may occur. Apple provides further information in its own privacy notices.
Processing in third countries, particularly the United States, also cannot be ruled out in connection with Cloudflare’s provision of the website. Cloudflare provides information about the safeguards it uses in its Privacy Policy.
TelemetryDeck is established in Germany and states that it processes only anonymized, non-personal data for app analytics. Under the current configuration, no transfer of personal app-user data to TelemetryDeck or through TelemetryDeck to a third country is intended.
12. Retention period
Personal data is stored only for as long as necessary for the respective purposes.
Local app data
Content stored within Choose Leaf remains on your device. You can remove this data using the relevant app or device functions or by deleting the app.
TelemetryDeck
Anonymized usage signals are stored as part of the TelemetryDeck service in accordance with the retention and data-availability periods applicable to the account or subscription plan being used.
Hausleitner Apps uses this anonymized information only for as long as it is required for statistical analysis, troubleshooting, and improving the app. Because the signals cannot be assigned to an identifiable person, it is not possible to search for or delete individual signals based on a user’s name.
Website
Website server log files are generally stored for up to 30 days unless longer storage is necessary for security reasons or to assert or defend legal claims.
Email communication
Data from email inquiries is deleted once the inquiry has been finally processed and no statutory retention obligations or legitimate interests in further storage apply.
13. Your rights
Subject to the applicable statutory requirements, you have, in particular, the following rights:
- the right of access under Article 15 GDPR,
- the right to rectification under Article 16 GDPR,
- the right to erasure under Article 17 GDPR,
- the right to restriction of processing under Article 18 GDPR,
- the right to data portability under Article 20 GDPR,
- the right to object under Article 21 GDPR,
- the right to withdraw consent with effect for the future,
- the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
Where processing is based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, you may object to the processing at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation.
To exercise your rights, you may contact the controller using the contact details provided above.
Hausleitner Apps has no access to Choose Leaf data stored exclusively on your device and cannot provide access, rectification, erasure, or portability with respect to that data.
The anonymized signals transmitted through TelemetryDeck also cannot be assigned by Hausleitner Apps to a particular natural person. It is therefore generally not possible to search for or delete signals belonging to a particular person.
These limitations do not affect your rights in relation to personal data that Hausleitner Apps can actually associate with you, for example information contained in an email inquiry.
14. No automated decision-making
Hausleitner Apps does not use automated decision-making, including profiling within the meaning of Article 22 GDPR.
The anonymized usage statistics collected through TelemetryDeck are not used to make decisions that produce legal effects concerning individual users or similarly significantly affect them.
15. Children’s privacy
Choose Leaf is not designed to knowingly collect personal data from children.
Data entered within the app is generally stored locally on the relevant device. The same anonymized technical information and usage signals that are generated by other users may be transmitted through TelemetryDeck.
Based on the configuration implemented by Hausleitner Apps, these signals do not contain directly personally identifiable data that would enable Hausleitner Apps to identify a child or any other particular natural person.
16. Changes to this Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be amended if the website, the app, technical functions, analytics signals, service providers, legal requirements, or data-processing activities change.
The current version is available on this website.
